MUSC Day Two

Day two has been a pretty eventful day for our little guy. He got to watch our beloved Wildcats play for the first time and they actually won, which was nice. Maybe he's good luck. In what was the hardest thing I've had to do so far as a parent, I had to sign consent for him to get a certain procedure that I am sure they perform on before boys develop a memory for a reason. In other words, he got his turtleneck trimmed down to a crew neck. He also got a visit from our friend Selena and our good buddies Wes and Jaime. He found them each to be lovely.
In a medical update, most of the things we have heard from the doctors have been pretty vague. Basically, the theme of every test and doctor drop-by has been "We know there is a mid-line structural abnormality, but we won't know how or if he'll be affected until we watch him develop." As much as we love the wait-and-see game, it was nice to get some positive news from the ophthalmologist this afternoon. After a few eye exams, they determined that his optic nerve may be just a little small, but that his eyes are pretty normal. With the wide variance in possible optical outcomes, it was quite nice to hear he should be on the good end of the spectrum. We get to get his eyes checked again in 6 months, but things are optimistic from that front. From a hormonal standpoint, his blood sugar has been good with every test. The endocrinologist wants to check him out in a few weeks or so just to make sure we're all good in that department. So far, it looks like God has blessed us with a beautiful, healthy baby boy. He is in fact, good.
